Description
A Purchasing Director position is available with a manufacturing company in Valleyfield. The person hired will lead the procurement function, develop supplier relationships and implement purchasing strategies that optimize costs while ensuring quality and supply continuity. This role is strategic to the company’s competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the procurement strategy aligned with business objectives
- Negotiate contracts, pricing and terms with key suppliers
- Manage the procurement team and establish departmental KPIs
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers to diversify the supply base
- Optimize inventory levels and implement just-in-time purchasing practices
- Collaborate with production, quality and finance teams on material planning
- Monitor market trends and commodity pricing to anticipate cost fluctuations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration or engineering
- Minimum 8 years of procurement experience including management responsibilities
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial procurement environment
- SCMP or CPSM certification an asset
